隨著首爾半導體（Seoul Semiconductor）與日亞化學（Nichia）專利纏訟的越演越烈，讓人不禁真正感受到LED的市場真正起飛了。在此過程中，我們覺得韓國勢力（特別是首爾半導體）在LED戰局中角色，逐漸扮演更積極。基於此，調查與監視首爾半導體在全球專利權與專利權主張甚為重要。
首爾半導體近期重要LED訴訟與判決如表一，公司基本介紹如表二所示[1-6]。根據新聞報導，首爾半導體專利組合超過1,000件專利[7]。首爾半導體美國專利13件；首爾半導體中華民國核准專利件數為10；早期公開專利為27；首爾半導體在WIPO之40件專利與在韓國之241件專利（由Delphion INPADOC資料庫調查）請來函索取。
檢視近兩月首爾半導體控告在日亞化學之兩件專利，如表三所示，其原始專利權人均非該原公司，判定兩件專利應該是首爾半導體購買而來。首爾半導體模式與先前多次討論的其他專利購買或企業購買議題，包括【攻擊是最好的防禦-看宏碁反訴惠普侵權】、【聯發科併購ADI，擴充TD-SCDMA無形資產？】與【聯發科（Mediatek）專利佈局初探】一致，值得進一步追蹤。
最後，以首爾半導體宣稱累積超過1,000件專利（若包括已核准，申請中與向外購買，此數據似乎合理）與近期積極主張專利權來看，台灣LED上、中、下游廠商需要花更多時間了解首爾半導體究竟有哪些武器，因為大舉興訟一觸即發，台灣廠商應該即早因應。(605字；表3；專利調查列表1)
